Our goal is to introduce sailing to youth in the Beaufort community to develop seamanship skills. We offer Summer Sailing Camp for all skill levels ages, 8-18 years old. We will open registration for 2022 in March.

In fleet racing, the boats all start at the same time (to a series of sound signals), and sail a designated course. Typically races last about 15 minutes each and can have many races in each division. High school sailing and scrimmages are hosted by BCSB on BYSC’s property every fall and spring. Our Fall season runs end of August to mid-November and picks up for Spring in February.

Facilitating high level racing is one of the main objectives of our sailing program. We combine an ‘in season’ 5 week intensive training and racing program in and around the low country area, while also continuing to race during the off season at selected top national junior events. During the season, the team will attend SAYRA regattas with daily training by JSB race team coaches. During the winter months (the ‘‘off season’’) our race team participates in many Optimist and Laser Regattas (South East Champs, Mid Winters, Orange Bowl, Valentines, US Opti Team Trials, etc.).
