The History of Junior Sailing in Beaufort

history

Junior Sailing of Beaufort is a non-profit organization that supports sailing at the junior level.  Starting in 2004 with our first program at Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club continuing through to today and the future, we are committed to introducing new youth to the sport of sailing while developing racers that can compete at the national level.

In our first season we started with 12 students and two instructors with one two-week program. Currently our program consists of six instructors, including a dedicated race coach, 6 weeks of instruction, and over 80 children.  The success of our program is not only shown in the increase of students, but also in the results our racers have accomplished, often placing on the podium at regattas.
