Formerly known as Junior Sailing
Our first program was all male. And now, our programs are made up of at least 40% women of all ages. BCSB supports sailing at any age, across any religious background, gender affiliation, or ability. We started in 2004 to introduce youth to the sport of sailing and produce racers who could compete at the national level.

FUN FACTS
In our first season, we started with 2 instructors, 12 students, and one 2-week summer camp program.
BCSB NOW
Now, our summer and seasonal programs consist of youth ages 7 to 15 years old and adults who are learning to sail, paddle, and powerboat safely.
THE FUTURE 2021
In 2021, we are offering 10 weeks of summer learn to sail camp, including a week of Adventure Camp. All our instructors are SafeSport certified and have US Sailing Level I online certifications, CPR and First Aid Certified.
WHAT ELSE
We have 8 week Beginner and 10 week Intermediate Opti Development Teams as a feeder into Race Team. Over 80 children pass through our summer sailing program, Learn to Sail, and we offer a boater’s license course through Spirit of America.

We are aligned with US Sailing & Spirit of America’s National On the Water Standards
We follow US Sailing’s Reach STEM Education, Level I, II, III Curriculum, and the Spirit of America Program’s National On the Water standards for training in sail, paddle, and power. Starting in 2021, All our programs and instructors will have access to the Skill Up software application for objective progress measures in rating students coming in and out of our summer and shoulder season programs.
