Introductory Level

 
 


Never sailed before?  Interested in giving it a try, this is where you start.....


The introduction to sailing level focuses on basic boat rigging, straight line sailing with a partner and general safety knowledge are all covered.  The goal of the intro level is to get the sailor comfortable in a boat with a friend, focus is on safety and fun.  Instructors use games, team work and challenges to help the student feel comfortable and excited about the sport of sailing.  By the end of a session a student is able to continue into Level 2 where they will work on being more maneuverable with sailboats  A maximum of 8 students per session to keep the instructor to student ratio low, no previous experience is required.


Skills Developed:

  1. -Basic Rigging

  2. -Basic Steering (straight line with crew in boat)

  3. -Basic Safety


One-week sessions, sign up for one or two (curriculum is repeated each week):

(M-F, 9 a.m – 4 p.m, lunch to be provided by parents and is supervised by instructors)


Intro 1.A: June 13 – 17     Intro 1.B: June 20 – 23

Intro 1.C: June  27 – July 1    Intro 1.D: July 5 – July 8 (No Classes July 4th)


$300 per session *


*Subtract $100 per session per child for BYSC members.
